THE OROUA RIVER.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —We understood some considerable time ago that the Health Inspector had taken strong measures to prevent the contamination of the Oroua River in and below Feilding. However, the only things which appear to be strong are the smell that rises from the river and the amount of filth flowing in it. This is becoming a serious menace to the health of the community, and it is time that the matter received adequate attention. Is it possible for the river to bo free from this filth or is it carelessness cn the part of those responsible for its cleanliness? I suggest that this requires immediate investigation.—l am, etc., ■ W. WHISKER, Feilding.
