Dr. G. A. Hucker, chief of research at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, New York, was a visitor to Palmerston North yesterday, when he gave a technical lecture to the members of tile staffs of the Dairy Research Institute and Massey Agricultural College on his work.
Major L. IT. Potter, N.Z.S.C., who was formerly stationed at Palmerston North, has been transferred from the Northern Military District to take over the duties of Commandant of the Central Military District School in place of Major A. E. Conway, N.Z.S.C., who has now assumed the duties of DeputyQuartermaster at General Army Headquarters. It is announced that' Mr Humbert Wolfe, of the Ministry of Labour, wlio more than once represented the United Kingdom at international conferences under the League of Nations’ international labour organisation, has been appointed deputj'-secretnry to the Ministry to succeed Mr J. F. G. Price on the latter’s retirement at the end of March. Mr Wolfe has an international reputation as a poet, essayist and critic, says a British Official Wireless message. ,
Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, will be a visitor to Palmerston North next week and will preside at a lecture to be given by Dr. John Hammond, D. Sc.,, chief of the physiology department, Animal Nutrition Institute, at Cambridge University. Dr. Hammond is to advise the Government on animal research, and was in Palmerston North on Thursday when he attended a meeting of the Dairy Research Institute committee.
