AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. Piay in the annual tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association has reached its final stages, and the programme will be completed to-mor-row. A feature of the play to-day was the defeat of Misses N. and M. Beverley, Matamata, holders of the Auckland women’s doubles title, by Misses M. Macfarlane and R. A. Taylor. Chief interest was centred in the semi-finals of the men’s and women’s singles. In the former, A. D. Brown, Auckland, beat N. G. Sturt, Auckland, by three sets to one, while it took D. C. Coombe, { Wellington, holder of the New Zealand championship, five sets to eliminate N. : .E. Bedford, Wellington. The finalists in .the women’s singles will be Misses M. Beverley, holder of the title, and B. L. Bishop. Their respective successes were gained over Misses E. Plummer, Wellington, and P. Cooke.
