OROUA DOWNS SPORTS.
Local and district residents will be interested to learn that the twenty-third annual sports meeting of the Oroua Downs Sports Club will be held on the Oroua Downs Sportsground on Saturday, February 26. The programme, which is advertised in this issue, contains several new events which should prove popular with sportsmen and patrons alike. The sports commence at 11.30 a.m. sharp, and the two tracks will enable the club to keep the spectators’ interest alive throughout the day without any break, and enable the big programme to be got off in the usual expeditious manner. As in the past, horse, athletic, Highland dancing and piping figure largely on the programme, although there are many side lines and competitions. Refreshments will be obtainable on the grounds and events will be broadcast. The big Sports Club ball will be held on the Wednesday previous to the sports. Send for a full programme to Mr R. Gates.
