LOCAL BODY POLLS.
LABOUE PAETY INTEEEST. AUCKLAND NOMINATIONS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 27. It was announced at the close of a special meeting of delegates to the Auckland Labour Bepresentation Committee to-night that Mr J. Sayegli will be the official Labour candidate for the Mayoralty of Auckland at the local body elections in May. The other nominee was Hon. D. Martin, M.L.C. At the municipal elections held in 1935 Mr Sayegh unsuccessfully contested the Mayoralty against the present Mayor (Sir Ernest Davis). The 230 delegates who were present at the meeting were representative of 25,000 people, including 58 unions and 35 branches of the New Zealand Labour Party affiliated with the Auckland Labour Representation Committee. This year the Labour Party will nominate a full ticket for each of the major local bodies in Auckland, :]t is stated that at the ballot tonight the delegates were confronted with the names of 51 nominees for the 21 seats on the Auckland City Council, 61 for the 12 scats on the Auckland Electric Power Board, 25 for the five seats on the Auckland Hospital Board, and 21 for the four seats on the Auckland Harbour Board,
