TOWN WATER SUPPLY.

DISCOLOURATION EXPLAINED. Householders in Feilding this morning awoke to discover the water supply to be very discoloured and they were reluctant to use it for ordinary household purposes. Enquiries made of the town clerk (Mr C. H. Tate) elicited the information that the cause was the flooded condition of the river from which the supply is drawn. Usually the water in the reservoirs is allowed to settle before being turned into the mains, but this morning it was found that an excess of water had been drawn off and the settled water in one reservoir was exhausted. It was therefore necessary to use the second reservoir’s supply, which had not had time to settle sufficiently.
