SERIOUS CHARGE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. Jan. 27. When Alfred George Clegg, a labourer, aged 46, twice previously remanded, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with assaulting a woman near Albany on January 14, the police withdrew a charge of breaking and entering. An additional charge, however, was preferred, namely, assaulting the woman with intent to commit a serious offence. Clegg was further remanded to February 3.
