Crawford, aged 25, fourth engineer of the coastal steamer Ka- ! knpo, which yesterday raced to New Plymouth for medical aid, is in a serious condition, having suffered a deep . wound on the forehead with a fracture and facial abrasions, j The Kakapo reached New Plymouth i at 6 a.m., and was met by ail ambu--1 lance and a doctor. No one saw the accident on the ship, but apparently Mr Crawford was heavily thrown when the ship lurched in a big sea, and fell in an alleyway. Mr Crawford came out from England on the Kakapo on her maiden voyage. His wife is understood to reside in Sydney.
