SHOP GIRLS’ STRIKE.
OVER MANAGER’S TRANSFER,
LONDON, Jan. 21. As a protest against the transfer of a popular manager, 130 girl assistants at a store in Brixton stopped serving. Tho store was filled with protesting customers.
The idolised manager, Frank Picot, then pleaded: “Go back to work, girls, please, for my sake.” Tho gii'ls resumed.
Picot has managed the store for six years. He gave the girls a radio set, first-class lunches for fid, and arranged parties and outings for them. The girls collected pennies and sixpences and presented Picot with a leather case costing £8 15s as a farewell gift.
