She hit out in splendid stylo to gallop her seven furlongs on the plough in 1.30 2-5 sec, the first six being cut out in 1.184. She was picked up by Fair Day (Broughton) at the throe furlongs peg, but kept going strongly to finish in front of her companion after running the last three furlongs in 41sec. Merryman (Chisholm), who is racing at Pahiatua to-morrow, impressed by beating Bluffer (S. Anderson) over six furlongs on the plough in 1.194. This was a good performance by a horse who only emerged from the maiden class at Christmas. Pie ran the first three furlongs in 39sec and the half-mile in 53sec. Half-brother to Florence Mills and Quadroon, the Siegfried—Liaison colt was out exercising this morning, when his good looks attracted attention.

Four horses participated in a very interesting work-out together on the plough. They were Rolling Homo (Broughton), Mon Ace (Chaplin), Clctrac (Thomson) and Bing Boy (Brown). Cletrac soon had to drop in behind the others owing to his rider being affected bv tho dust, but Bing Boy and Rolling Home finished together in front of Mon Ace in 1.19 3-5 for six furlongs, the first half-mile taking 52sec. Great Hope, who figures in the open sprint field on the first day at New Plymouth, was allowed to . run five ■ furlongs on tho plough at restricted pace, taking 1.10. , , ~ Surmount was allotted pacework and then given a fast sprint up the straight. He is coming to hand well, and has been making good progress in his galloping education. Selkirk ran four furlongs at half-pace. t
