CONVEYER’S WIN.

DESTINED FOR JUMPING A PROMISING RECRUIT. (By "Spectator.’)

Conveyer, who is owned by Mr E. L. Barnes, of Palmerston North, who also has Catalogue, showed very promising form when he won tho highweight _ event on the final day at Trentham. He is destined to be a jumper, and should be a good horse over the fences. Conveyer is a good-looking six-year-old black gelding by Tractor from the King Soult—Caligo mare Prinia Lux, and lie boars something of a resemblance to his relative. He did not begin racing till a single outing lato last winter, and he was rocently first and then second in tho two amateur riders’ events at Marton. Mounts at Pahiatua.

Mounts for W. J. Broughton at Pahiatua will include Colleen Gain, Eurlscourt, Pladie and Lone Raider. S. Anderson will also be riding at Pahiatua. Cerne Abbas Spells. Cernc Abbas had her last race fdr some time on Thursday, probably for tho season. Her intended nomination for tho Sydney Cup is to bo cancelled. She has hiid a strenuous programme of late.

Beaulack at Foxton. Boaulack, the Lackham Sleeping Beauty filly formerly trained at Awapuni, entered the stable of A. Wright at Foxton on Monday. Though she has not had many starts, she has shown promise. For Taranaki Plata.

Noisy Night, who won at Marton but failed in his next two starts at Trentham, where he broke a girth during his race on the first day, is to have his next start in the Taranaki Plate (of spocial conditions), at New Plymouth. Going to Riccarton. The three-year-old Flame Queen, bred and raced by Mr W. J. Wood, of Waipawa, was sold last week to the Riccarton trainer S. Barr. Flame Queen has shown fairly good form, and was to. have raced in tho maiden event at Pahiatua, but has now been withdrawn. Suleiman’s Next Start.

Suleiman was allowed to forfeit his Trentham engagements, and ho is to have his next race at the Takapuna meeting. Although beaten into fourth place in each of his two starts at Christmas, the Aero gelding was by no means disgraced, and ho ought to improve on these efforts in tho near future.

King Rey Improved. King Roy looks an improved horse since his holiday racing. He registered two good seconds and was considered unlucky not to get the decision over Tiger Gain in the Manawatu Cup. King Rey has not won a race for over 12 months. Ills next start may be at Te Arolia. Aurora Borealis Sold.

Aurora Borealis, with a colt foal at foot bv Defoe, has been sold to Mr J. 11. Grigg, of Longbeach. The marc was passed at 325 gns at the sale last Friday, and was subsequently purchased privately. Aurora Borealis is the dam of the veiy promising' hurdler Aurora’s Love, who is being trained at Awapuni. Queen of Song Injured. Queen of Song’s absence from tho Wellington meeting last week was due to an injury she sustained at the start for the Invercargill Cup. She was very severely bumped by another horse, and it is suspected that this resulted in a broken rib. If such is the case it will bo a while before this good mare can be Taced again.

Former Awapuni Horses. Wagner, who was sold last week, was purchased by Mr D. O. Rutherford, of North Canterbury, and he will be trained by A. J. Martin at Riccarton. Chat will join Sporting Song in the stable of H. Dulieu. Both were formerly trained at Awapuni. Pekoe Shows Promise. Pekoo, who won the Melrose Handicap on tho final day at Trentham, has riiado a good start in his racing career, which lie began only at Christmas. Ho scored at Stratford, and has now won twice in six outings. Pekoe is a three-year-old bay gelding by the Tea Tray horse Kio6k out of tho Grandcourt— Orozino mare Court Step, who never raced herself, but is a full-sister to Grand Jury and Knollmere, two good performers. It is the Desert Gold family, as Orozino was out of tho famous mare’s full-sister D’Oro.
