LONDON WOOL SALES.
ACTIVE COMPETITION. Received January 26, 1.45 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 25. At the wool sales 8848 bales were offered, including 2334 from New Zealand, and 7161 were sold. There was a good selection, chiefly of Merinos. Active competition saw Jhe Home trade securing the bulk. Withdrawals were chiefly of inferior sorts.
DECLINE IN PRICES. AUSTRALIANS TO CONFER. Received January 26, 1.45 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 26. The Executive Council of the New South Wales Graziers’ Association has asked the Australian Woolgrowers’ Council to confer with the executive of the National Council of Wool-Selling Brokers on the decline in wool prices. The chairman of the Woolgrowers’ Council intimated that, if necessary, that body would adopt the policy of carrying an appreciable amount of this season’s wool forward to next season.
