BUTTER MARKET DULL. CHEESE QUIETER. The London butter market closed dull last week, with a fall in prices of 3s a cwt., according to advice received by the Primary Products Marketing Department. Friday's closing quotations, with those for the previous week shown in parentheses, wore as follow : I New Zealand. —Salted, 109 sto 110 s (112 s to 113 s; a year ago, 935); unsalted, 112 s jto 114 s (114 s; 95s to 965). Dutch. —Unsalted, 112 s to 113 s, cx. 117 s (112 s). j Lithuanian. —Unsalted, 116 s (116 s). j The retail price for New Zealand is unchanged at Is 2d a lb., with Danish at Is ' 4d. 1 Tlic basic rates fixed under the New l Zealand guaranteed price scheme, subject to quality differentials, are 123 sßd for butter and 70s for cheese per cwt., f.0.b.. New Zealand currency. The equivalent lunded price for butter in London is 112 s, and for cheese 675. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week were 1914 tons, compared with 2232 tons for the previous week and 2014 tons a year ago. The quantity in store amounted to 4849 tons, including 334 tons ex the Tamaroa, compared with 3918 tons for the previous week and 5646 tons a year ago. Australian deliveries totalled 2373 tons compared with 3055 tons for the previous week and 1314 tons a year ago. The quantity in store amounted to 2377 tons, against 2707 tons for the previous week and 4316 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of stocks of all butters in store is 334,908 boxes compared with 884,538 boxes a year ago. The cheese market closed quiet, though prices show a further advance of 6d to Is. Friday’s closing quotations, with those for the previous week in parentheses, were as .follow: —• New Zealand. —White, 69s to 69s 6d (68s to 68s 6d ; a year ago 52s 6d to 535); coloured, 69s 6d to 70s (69s to 69s 6d; a year ago 52s 6d to 535). Australian.—White, 65s to 67s (64s to 665); coloured, 66s to 67s 6d (64s to 675). Canadian. —White, 74s (73s to 745); coloured, 73s to 74s (73s to 745). English.—Finest farmers’, 96s to 98s (96s to 98s). The New Zealand -retail price remains unchanged at 9d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week totalled 15,654 crates against 15,074 crates for the previous week and 18,512 orates a year ago. Tho quantity in store, including 7010 crates ex the Tamaroa, amounted to 50,985 crates against 45,390 orates for tho previous week and 48,770 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese amounted to 7872 boxes, ugainst 4813 boxes a year ago, the quantity in store being 118,631 boxes, compared with 101,046 boxes a year ago. Gradings of New Zealand cheese for tho week ended January 15 were 25,780 crates of white and 13,475 crates of coloured, a .total of 39,225 crates.
