SERIOUS CHARGE.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 24. A married woman, Hazel Anne Batchelor, appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court charged with unlawfully using an instrument on a girl aged 17 years on or about September 11. Accused pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given by the girl concerned, who said she visited accused’s home in company with a young man. She told accused she was in trouble. An operation was performed immediately. The after effects of the operation required hospital treatment about a month later. The young man who accompanied the girl said lie paid accused £lO. Accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed.
