PAHIATTJA, Jan. 24. Mr and Mrs A. A. Vaughan are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu. Mr and Mrs It. Pilkinton have returned from a holiday at Napier. Mr and Mrs C. H. Arrow have as their guest their daughter, Mrs G. F. Ironside, of Wanganui. Mr and Mrs J. D. Thomson have Miss Thomson, of Te Kawhatau, as their guest. Mr and Mrs H. Fisher, junr., have taken up their residence at Eastbourne, Wellington. The Mangamaire cricket team took first use of the bat in their match against Itongomai to knock up 89 runs. The home side replied mh 63. Msrigamaire put oil 123 in their second innings. An enjoyable day v as spent by the Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Cl- b numbers and visitors on Anniversary Day when an open tournament as pie yea, Miss J. Rutherford and Mr M. Morris (Napier) being the winners. The Sydney College has advised Mrs Aston that the following pupils of Pahiatua have secured a pass in commercial subjects : Advanced' shorthand: Beryl Buckingham, 91 per cent; Joan Sowry, 90i per cent; Mavis Wright, 75 per cent. Intermediate shorthand: Rhoda S. Aston, 87-J per cent; Joyce Shannon, 83$ per cent; Mary Thompson, 83 per cent; Joy Humphrey, 75 per cent; Grace Bisset, 73 per cent; Ruth Clark. 72$ per cent; Sara Levy, 66?- per cent. Advanced bookkeeping: Daphne Humphrey, 96 per cent. Intermediate bookkeeping: J. Baucke, 69$ jier cent; M. J. Daldy, 88 per cent; N. R. Daldy, 86 per cent; Mary Thomnson, 83 per cent. Miss D. F. Junker, Pahiatua repre* sentative for the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, has received the following pass list for the November examinations:—Harmony.—Grade 1: Pass with hon. mention, Elizabeth A.
