CITY CLUBS.
HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS HELD
On the majority of howling greens in Palmerston North on Saturday progressive pairs tournaments were played. Conditions were ideal and interesting games enjoyed. Results were as follow: PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. In the skips’ section at the Palmerston North Club W. Boon was the winner after a play-off with Mowjem and Paton, each scoring three wins. G. Barrett had a clear-cut win in the leads’ section with four wins, Maskery, Seator and Holbrook securing three wins each. TERRACE END CLUB. There were large entries in the tourney at Terrarce End, P. Childs, with five wins, scoring in the skips’ section and E. Wycherley with five wins being the most successful lead. ' NORTHERN CLUB. Morgan, Stableford and Croucher were equal with five wins each in the skips’ section at the Northern Club and sbarerd the prize, while Bennett was the most successful lead with 4* wins. MANAWATU CLUB. Blake (4 wins) annexed the skips’ prize at Manawiatu, Beatson and Shand being runners-up with 3* wins each. Cater and Turner each secured five wins in the leads’ section, and in a play-off Turner won. Doak, Todd, Winks and Copeland scored three wins each. RINKS FOR TARANAKI. 1 Two Manawatu rinks have left to compete in the New Plymouth Bowling Centre’s tournament. They are: Thomson, Kershaw, J. Croucher, Rangilieuea; J. K- Paton, Brown, A. Wilson, T. Attwood. TAKARO CLUB. The following teams will represent the Takaro Bowling Club at the Northern Club’s greens for the Ta-karo-Te Raki Cup on Tuesday at 5 p.nr.: —Morgan, Burrell, Farrar, Child (skip) ; Fisher, Burnett, Hearsey Ivey (skip) ; Dawick, Henderson, Ridley, A. Smith (skip) ; Rosvall, Johnson, Monks, Littlejohn (skip).
