OBITUARY.
ADMIRAL SIR A. E. EVERETT. Received January 24, 8.5 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 22. The death has occurred of Admiral Sir Allan Frederic Everett, under whom King George VI. once served as a sub-lieutenant.
Sir Allan Everett was born in 1868. He was superintendent of Signal Schools from 1901 to 1904 'and from 1906 to 1908; a captain of the Elect and commodore first-class on the staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleets and Grand Fleets from 1913 to 1915; naval assistant to the First War Lord from 1915 to 1916; Rear-Admiral in 1917; naval-secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty from 1916 to 1918: A.D.C. to King George V. from 1916 to 1917; in com-' mand of the Bth Light Cruiser Squadron of the Grand Fleet in 1918-19; in command of the Bth Light Cruiser Squadron, North America and West Indies, 1919 to 1921; First Naval Member of the Commonwealth of Australia Navy Board, 1921; and Commander-in-Chief of the China station, 1924 to 1925. He retired in 1925 and was made an admiral in 1926. MAJOR W. T. B. McCORMACK. Received Januarv 24, 8.5 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 23. The death occurred to-day after a short illnes of Major William Thomas Bartholomew McCormack, chairman of the Victorian Country Roads Board, who returned recently from a tour of America. He had been chairman of the board since 1928- Under his direction Victoria acquired the reputation of being the best roaded State in Australia, his policy being a road to every farmer’s door. He began his oarer as a shire engineer, later joining Die Public Works Department. He had a distinguished record.
