TRINIDAD ATHLETES.
EN ROUTE TO SYDNEY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 22. The Trinidad representatives for the Empire Games at Sydney, the first team ever to leave Trinidad to participat© in athletic competitions outside their own bounds, arrived here by the Itemuera to-day. The Remuera was originally to have left Trinidad on December 10, but this was changed to December 24, and the team feels the loss of time will have an unfortunate effect on their performances, as they will have little chance to practise and be brought up to concert pitch. They leave for Sydney on Monteam consists of Lance-Corporal J. Ashmead. long and high jumper; J. N. Cumberhatch, the West Indies most brilliant sprinter', and Noel Stanford middle distance runner. the manager is Mr M. E L. Joseph, secretary of the Trinidad Amateur Athletic Association.
