PHILATELIC CURIOSITIES.

LETTERS BY CLIPPER. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 21. Some of the letters dispatched by the first New Zealand-America air mail by the Samoan Clipper on January 2 returned to Auckland to-day by the Monterey, having been dropped by the clipper at Pago Pago (American Samoa). They are dated January 1. _ The discrepancy in the date is caused by the fact that the clipper crossed the International Date Line. The letters carried to America are expected to return by the Niagara, which is due at Auckland on February 7.
