FRANCO IMPROVES CONDITIONS VISITOR’S STATEMENT. Per Press Association. - WELLINGTON, Jan. 22.

Since General Franco had been in command in the Bilboa district of Spain conditions had taken a turn for the better, said Mr C. V. Martyn, a member of the firm of Martyn and Martyn and Co., of Bilbao and Cardiff, who arrived at Wellington by the Remuera. He stated that his firm owned a number of ore mines in that district, hut since the Spanish conflict had been waging they had all been closed. There had been no fatalities among the officers of the mines.
