An invitation has been sent to Jock McAvoy, the cruiser-weight champion of the British Empire, to visit Australia to fight Ambrose Palmer on McAvoy's own terms of £2OOO and the option of 30 per cent, of the gate receipts. The fight is scheduled for March. FIGHT OFF. NEGOTIATIONS FAIL. Received Januarv 21. 11.20 a.m SYDNEY,. Jan. 21. As the result of a decision by the directors of Olympia Sports, Ltd., promoters of boxing at the Sportsground, Barney Ross will not come to Sydney to defend his world's welterweight title against Jnck Carroll. Olympia Sports are unable to meet the demand by Ross that the fees he asked for, £11,125, plus £1750 for expenses, be ?ent to the United States before he leaves there.
