Tho wages for general labourers had, by agreement, been raised to la 3d per hour. Farmers had been concerned regarding the spread of pennyroyal in the Kongotea district. Mrs W. T. Wood had called a meeting with a view to establishing an old men’s homo in Palmerston North. Russia had decided to spend £225,000,000 over 12 years on rebuilding her navy. A tender of £IOBB had been accepted for the erection of the Kimbolton Post Office.
Thousands of acres of heavy bush had been destroyed as tho result of fires which had raged in Otago. Large numbers of slieep had been burnt to death.
