SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS. Per Press Association. .WANGANUI, Jan. 19. The Dominion croquet championships were continued to-day in fine weather when a start was made with the ladies’ and men’s singles championships. In the first life and first round of the former event Mrs Watkins won from Mrs Gambrill, 26—13. In the men’s first life first round H. P. Stratton won from G. Hart, 26 —14, and J. Tannock won from W. E. Tye, 26—22. In the first round, second life, It. W. McCreath won from H. A. Penn, 26 —3.

WOMEN CRICKETERS. MATCH AT WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. The New Zealand women’s cricket team, which will leave for Sydney to-morrow to play a series of matches in New South Wales, had a useful final practice a.t the Basin Reserve to-day, when they met a team representing the Wellington Women’s Cricket Association. Twelve a-side were played to give all the members of the New Zealand team much-needed practice. The game ended in a draw.
