TRAGEDY IN SYDNEY.
NEW ZEALANDER’S DEATH. Received January 20, 12.35 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 20. The body of a man who was subsequently identified as Thornley Wilfred Franks, aged 29. who arrived from New Zealand a few months ago, was found in a closed motor-car in the bush near Manly. A hosepipe was attached to the exhaust and the other end of the hose was drawn through the partly opened window of the car. The engine was still running, the carbon monoxide fumes being carried into the car, but a doctor expressed the opinion that the man had been dead some hours when he was found.
Tho Daily Telegraph says that after a brief struggle a man . from New Zealand was saved last night from jumping over “The Gap.” The man resisted any attempt to move him from the projecting fence, but the police succeeded in taking him to the police station. *
