Great Hope (Chaplin) ran a comfortable five furlongs in 1.16 1-5 on the plough. He has been getting through his work very satisfactorily since the Marton meeting, and should strip in good order at Ashhurst on Saturday. , , Segra (Rae), on the course proper, did three-quarter pace work, and then wound up by covering three furlongs m ou got through his customary two rounds on the plough quite well, and should bo in good order for the hurdle races at the Taranaki meeting if taken Queen (Chaplin), who has freshened up and has been moving along well, galloped six furlongs on the plough ** Copycat did a round on the plough and then sprinted home over the last two fU Gay e Mollv (L, Pine), having her first gallop for some time, covered three furlongs on the plough in 43isec. She looks " Erebus, who will be a fit horse when produced at Ashhurst, worked at haltpace on the plough. King’s Lancer (Cbaplm) ran seven furlongs on the plough in 1.36. He appears to be improving. . , Oriwai, who has been doing road work for some time, has reappeared at the track, but, was confined to half-pace work this morning. . •_ Hanover (Chaplin) broke 1.21 for six furlongs on the plough. ... j Peach King (Farland) got to the end of five furlongs on the course proper in Mon Ace, Manawatu, Tiger Bill, Royal Limond and. Merry Thought all got through useful tasks on the plough. Dainty Sue was exercised on the inner "Bod yline (S. Not Often Accomplished. A Manawatu Cup winner has gone on to victory at Trcntham only three times. The horses so successful were Sir bolo (1912-13), Kiirain (1913-14) and Nobleman (1917-18). Tho only Wairarapa Cup winner who has succeeded at' lrentham lin the same year has boon Moloch (1908). but Red Ribbon ran a dead hoat in the Wellington Cup a year after winning at Wairarapa, and Stanchion won at - ron ; tham a/ter scoring, on the second day at Tauherenikau. Rigcr Cain, this year a Manawatu Cup winner finished well in third place, being just beaten halt a head by Catalogue.
