WRECK OF SAROS.

FINDING OF INQUIRY. MELBOURNE. Jan. 19. The Conrt of Marine Inquiry has censured Captain John Aitken, master of the wrecked steamer Saros, for failure in his duty to take all reasonable precautions and for making insufficient allowance in setting his course to counteract the effect of the current setting strongly toward land. The Court, however, commended Captain Aitken for the manner in which he performed his duty after the ship was stranded by his seamanship in saving all the crew without mishap. The Court directed attention to the lack of wireless direction-finding stations on the Australian coast.

The steamer Saros, of 3304 . tons, owned by Australian Steamships, Ltd., went ashore at Cape Everard, Eastern Victoria, 300 miles from Melbourne, in a dense fog last December.
