NOTES.
To-day a small par rame to rest on its side when, in turning round on Awahuri Road near Giesen’s Road, it dropped into a drain the presence of winch was concealed by long grass. A number of Borough Council employees working nearby righted the car, which then proceeded on its way. Constable E. H. Pike is at present i on annual leave, and during his absence his duties at the Feilding police station are l>ei.n" carried out by Constable A. .S. \vard, of Palmerston North.
Last evening Air J. Haycock, a member of the Feilding Athletic and Cycling Club, fractured his collarbone whilst engaged in cycle training on Kowhai Park.
In view of the fact that the survey [ work on the Awahuri and Stewart’s Line highways preparatory to their sealing has not yet been completed, hopes that these important highways would be improved for motor traffic daring the present financial year are losing strength, and it is likely that the unsatisfactory condition of their surfaces will he mentioned at the monthly meeting of the Alanawatu County Council to-dav, and the ca.rse of the delay explained. Afotorists consider these highways to be the worst in the district.
