OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL. 10 PER CENT. PENALTY ON OVERDUE RATES. NOTICE is hereby given that 10 per cent penalty will be added to all rates outstanding on and after 22nd January, 1938. Proceedings will be taken for recovery after that date. ROY L. HARDING, County Clerk. N.Z. MILITARY FORCES. TERRITORIAL FORCE.—SPECIAL RESERVE. RECRUITS are required for the Special Reserve of the Territorial Force to undergo training at Aueicland, Wellington, and Christchurch, for three months from February 1, 1938. CONDITIONS: Applicants for enlistment fulfil the following conditions:— Be British subjects; physically fit and of required 'medical standard; not less than sft 7in in height; have reached their 18th but not passed their 25th birthday on Ist February, 1938. Be prepared to undergo three months continuous training and to undertake for three years thereafter to attend a course of training of ten consecutive days per annum with the unit to which they will be posted. RATES OF PAY: The rates of pay will be as follows:—(a) During the 3 months’ course—Bs per day less 2s bd per day for quarters and rations supplied. (b) During annual courses of instruction—9s per day (rations and TRAINING: While attending the three months’ course ot instruction facilities are provided, nee of charge for attendance at a technical college for a course to be selected by the trainee. Courses available include Building Trades Cabinetmaking, Engineering, Metal-work, Drawin or Commercial Work. SUBSEQENT EMPLOYMENT: On completion of. the three months’ course of instruction, a selected number of special reservists will be considered for enlistment into the Regular .Forces CLOSING DATE: Applications will be received at any Defence Office up to 4 p.m. on the 25th January, 1938. Selected applicants must be prepared to commence the three months’ course of instruction at Auckland Wellington, or Christchurch on Ist February, 1938. For any further information, apply at the nearest Defence Office.
