CINGALESE REGIMENT.

FOR IMPORTANT FLYING BASE. Received Januarv 19, 1.5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 18. The Daily Mail’s Colombo correspondent savs that for the first time in history a regular regiment of Cingalese, with British officers of senior rank until the Cingalese are fully trained, is being raised owing to the growing importance of Trincomalee as a flying base. Trincomalee, a seaport of Ceylon, stands on the north-east coast 99 miles north-east of Ivandy. It has a population of just on 10,000.
