SABOTAGE SUSPECTED

ON BRITISH CRUISER

Received January 19, 10.45 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 18.

The Daily Mail’s correspondent says that cabotage is suspected in connection with a fire in a hangar aboard the cruiser Birmingham at Portsmouth dockyard on January 15 owing to the discovery of some oil-soaked cotton waste in the wing of a seaplane in the hangar. The fire broke out in the Starboard hangar of the Birmingham on January 2 and shavings were found ablaze in a minesweeper here on January 5.
