CALLOUS MURDERER.
STORY OF FRENCH CRIME. PARIS, Jan. 6. “I met him in gaol, invited him to lunch at my villa, pressed a revolver into his neck and shot him as he was reading a paper.” This statement, regarding the death of a man named Frommer, was made by Eugene Weidmann, the Germanborn “Bluebeard,” to the magistrate at Versailles, where he is being questioned. ■ Weidmann, who was arrested on December 11 at Nantua, Switzerland, has been charged with the murder of six people. “We decided to meet at the villa, to discuss plans for murdering and robbing, as we were both short of mqney,” Weidmann added. After murdering Frommer, Weidmann said, he searched the villa garden for a suitable place to bury the body. Finally he decided on the cellar.
