GERMAN PROTEST.

DR. DODD’S ATTACK. WASHINGTON, Jan. 36. The German Ambassador (Dr. Dieckhoff) has protested to the Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) against the speech of Dr. W. E. Dodd, until recently Ambassador to Germany 7, at a dinner in his honour, as “an unheardof insult” to a friendly nation. Mr Hull has replied that Dr. Dodd is no longer in an official office, and that his utterances do not represent the views of the United States Government.
