PERSONAL.
The Governor-General and Lady Galwav, who went to Government House - , Auckland, shortly before Christmas, will leave by train on Wednesday night to join the Wanganella at Wellington on Thursday for Sydney. Their Excellencies will attend the 150th anniversary celebrations of Australia and expect to return to the Dominion on February 20._ They will he accompanied 1 o Australia by Cap-' tain Stuart-French, A.D.C.. and Mrs A. F. Purvis, wife of tue military sec retary.
Mr Justice Ostler, who is indisposed, underwent a slight operation on Saturday and is progressing favourably. Mr C. Freyberg, district manager of the Public Trust Office, has returned to Palmerston North after spending a holiday in the Bay of Islands district.
Constable J. Beaton, who was formerly stationed in Palmerston North and who has for some time past been at Taihape, has been transferred to Raetilii.
Messrs A. C. Stedman and D. C. Coombe, the New Zealand Davis Cup tennis players, who are playing exhibition matches to-morrow, arrived in Palmerstsn North to-day. They are the guests of Mr H. N. Watson, le Awe Street.
Rev. J. E. Ashlev-Jones, vicar of' the Anglican parishes of Wadestowr. and Northland, has resigned his appointment as vicar of Wadestown and will take up his new duties as vicar of Northland as from February 28, Rev. Neville Watkins, at present vicar of Mangaweka, has accepted the appointment as vicar of Waxiesiown. Mr Watkins was for some time attached to the Christchurch diocese, and for some years previously was stationed at Hong Kong, China. After being stationed at Napier as parish priest of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church since February, 1931. Rev. Father J. Holley, S.M. will leave Napier shortly to take over .the position of parish priest at Blenheim. He will be ‘ succeeded by Father C. W. Casey, D.D., Temuka. Father Holley is the oldest ordained New Zealand Marist father, and for nine years until 1906 he was administrator to the late Archbishop Redwood. Subsequently he was stationed at Blenheim and Wanganui, after which he was provincial of the Marist Order for six years. Father Holley was again stationed at Blenheim and at Timaru before going to Napier.
