EXPERIMENTS WITH PAMPAS.
“My department intends to lay down further experimental plots of pampas grass in the near future to ascertain whether the grass can be established on hill country, and how far it can be used for wintering cattle on properties where the provision of supplementary feed in the winter is difficult,” said the Minister of Agriculture (Hori. W. Lee Martin) at Hamilton. Over 150 pampas grass crops had beep established and kept under observation, lie added, and these had shown that profitable utilisation of the grass was possihle in various districts where the soil types were suitable.
