In view of Mr E. B. Gordon’s nomination for selection as National Party candidate in the Rangitikei electorate, Mr C. G. C. Dernier, of Cheltenham, has declined nomination. He states that had not Mr Gordon consented to accept nomination he (Mr Dernier) would have been prepared to allow liis name to go forward, in response to

approaches made to him to stand in the party’s interest. j Mrs Foot, Miss B. Newell, and Messrs M. Grindrod and Towler an- j nexed the prizes at the Foresters’ Lodge euchre party held on Saturday. At the dance, which followed, the Monte Carlo waltz was won hy Miss | N. Evans and Mr T. Rosonoski. The 1 music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Fraser, while Mr P. Jaggard was M.C.
