ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.! ASHHURST, Jan. 17. A jolly time was spent on Saturday when ’ picnic parties .journeyed to the Bnumai Bridge. where the annual picnic of the Women’s Institute was held. A largo number were present and nearly all took advantage of the bright sunshine to go swimming. The water and bank? were gaily coloured with brightly-clad bathers, in the afternoon, races were held for both children and adults The results were as follow: Girls, under 9 years, N. Tremewan 1, Jean Currie 2; hoys,’ B. Hanlon 1, D. Gillespie 2; girls, 14 and under, D. Hackett 1. M. Hanlon 2; boys, It. Watchman 1, R. Tremewan 2; juvenile, P. Kerrigan, Fairless (2), N. Stoekbridgo. H. Fairlcss; young ladies, Misses A. Nix and A Broadhurst; single men, M. Warnock 1. G. Osborne 2; married ladies, Mrs B. Fairless lp Mrs T. Learny 2; married men, H. Fairlcss 1, B. Fairlcss '2.
