FINAL TRIBUTES

LATE MR C, LOUISSON. -. LENGTHY CORTEGE. Final tributes, for the purpose of which many travelled long distances, were paid to the late Mr C. Louisson at ail impressive funeral servico hold yesterday afternoon. The cortege was over a mile long, among those present being the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), Mr J. A. Nash, and representatives of the numerous organisations and sports bodies with which the Jate Mr Louisson was associated, besides many leading citizens and a host of other friends. Mr J. H. Perrett, in the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr J. McLeod) officially represented the Now Zealand Racing Conference, while Mr W. Mouldey (president) was present on behalf of tlio Manawatu Trotting Club. The service at the graveside at the Kelvin Grove cemetery was conducted by Canon G. Y. Woodward. Tlio pall-bearers were Messrs F. Colvin (representing the Licensed Victuallers’ Association), L. H. Collinson (Manawatu Racing Club), W. L. Fitzlierbert (Manawatu Golf Club), G. G. Priest (Palmerston North Rotary Club), B. J. Jacobs (Returned Soldiers’ Association) and Dr P. T. Putnam (Manawatu Club).

There was a wealth of beautiful floral tributes,, including the following wreaths : From the Burton Brewery staff, Reo Motors, Now Zealand Racing Conference, . Barrn.ud and Abraham, Ltd., Manawatu Racing Club gate staff, office staff, committee and members Manawatu Hunt Club, Awapuni Trainers’ Association, Palmerston North Fire Police, Watson and Eyre, Ltd., officers, n.c.o.’s and men of old Palmerston North Rifle Volunteers, Oscar Mom-ad and Son, P. S. Larcomb and Son, Manawatu Club, Licensed Victuallers’ Association, . Manawatu Patriotic Society, Wanganui Provincial Council, C. M. Ross Co., Ltd., Manawatu Mills, Palmerston North Boys’ High School Parents’ Association, Rangitikci Racing Chib, Manawatu Poultry and Cage Bird Club, Manawatu Trotting Club, H. B. Claphnm, Ltd., Kauri Brewery, Wanganui District Racing Committee, Staff Awapuni Racecourse, Midland Brewery, Canterbury Club, Palmerston North Rotary Club, Wanganui Jockey Club, Manawatu Operatic Society, manager and staff, Bank of New South Wales, Wellington Racing Club, Manawatu Golf Club, Feilding Jockey Club, Dixon’s, Ltd. The Manawatu Golf Club’s courso at Hokowhitu was closed for play yesterday as a mark of respect to the late Mr Louisson, who was a former president of the club. Flags at the Manawatu Racing Chib’s office and on other business premises were flown at halfmast.

Fooling reference was made by the president (Mr J. A. Nash) at a committee meeting of the Palmorston North Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, last evening, to the loss suffered by the death of Mr Louisson, who had been president of the society and one of its most active supporters for many years.
