WOMEN ATHLETES.

MORE EVENTS ADVOCATED. Received January 18, 12.40 p.m. ' LONDON, Jan. 17. Regretting that the Empire Games and other international events organised by men do not include a women’s long distance race with men, the Amateur Athletic Association is arranging a five-lap race at the indoor championships at Wembley in April followed by longer races at some international meetings; also, an international half-mile as a preliminary to the European championships at Wembley on August 6. ; An association official told the Daily Mail: “We find that half-mile and mile runners have longer athletic lives than sprinters. We want to show the world that British girls are not made of cotton wool, but have stamina and perfect health.”
