LIBEL ACTIONS.
FASCISTS IN PARIS. VERDICT OF THE COURT. PARIS, Jan. 4. The Correctional Court generally acquitted the accused in the libel actions instituted by Colonel de 1* Rocque, Fascist leader. The actions arose out of charges made by Due Pozzo di BorgO; a former lieutenant-colonel in do la Rocque’s Fascist organisation Croix do Feu, who, in October last year, instituted an action for slander against do la Rocque. , , , Due Pozzo di Borgo asserted that de la llocque’s Croix de Feu had received funds from a former Premier, M. Tardieu. His charges were repeated by others. For the defence in the present cases, M. Tardieu’s statements that de la Rocque had received secret funds were reproduced, arid on this count the accused were acquitted. Those who had added personal insults to the charge, however, were fined. Thus Due Pozzo di Borgo was acquitted, but M. Daudet was fined £3 10= with £l3 10s damages on one count, and £7, with 27s damages, on another. I The Socialist newspaper Humamte Populaire was ordered to pay small fines and damages.
