PLANS TO PROCEED
PACIFIC AIR SERVICE. EARLY RESUMPTION. Per Press Association. . AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. Pan-American Airways are proceeding with their plans for an early continuation of the service between New Zealand and the United States, said a cablegram received from the PanAmerican Airways headquarters in New York to-niglit by Mr Harold Gutty. Mr Gatty expects to receive the details of the company s proposals in the near future. , . Though it had been stated previously in a Press message that the company had no intention of abandoning the South Pacific service the cable read by Mr Gatty was the first official advice that the Line intended to adhere to the original plans in spit* of the loss of the Samoan Clipper and crew. . , The South Sea Clipper, a huge Boeing flying-boat now under construction for the New Zealand service, is nearing completion at Seattle. Mr Gatty said the message did not indicate what ship would take up the early running. . The message from New York also asked Mr Gatty to extend to the Government and officials the personal appreciation of Mr Trippe, the president, and that of the whole company for flying flags at half-mast, which had created a deep impression among th© American public, also for other gestures of sympathy. He was also requested to thank the various public bodies and individuals for the cables sent.
