FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
IMPROVED DEMAND FOR LAMB. The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week: The market for wethers is quiet but firm. There is a weaker tendency for ewes. Reduction in prices has improved the demand for lambs. The market for chilled beef is quiet. Trade generally is slow. Current prices are as under;— Wethers, light, sc! to 6d per lb.; heavy, 3Jd to 4 7-Brl. Ewes, 3 l-8d to 4 3-Bd. Lambs, 2s 73 to 7 7-8 ; B’s, 73 to 8d; seconds, 7£d to 7 5-Bd. Chilled beef, hinds, s|d to sjd ; fores, to 33d.
