CROQUET TOURNAMENT.
S. J. GIBBS’S SUCCESSES. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, .Jan. 16. S. J. Gibbs (Patea) won his second title at the North Island croquet championships, which were concluded on Saturday. Mrs A. S. Clark (New Plymouth) collapsed in the final of the open championship, in which Gibbs was leading 26 —23, 11 —5. The women’s final, in which Mrs Clark meets Mrs Tingey, New Plymouth, was , postponed. Mrs Clark, partnered hy Mrs Lawrence, had already beaten Bennett and Mrs Bennett, Hawke’s Bay, in the handicap doubles final.
