INTERMEDIATE AND JUNIOR. ELIMINATING HEATS. Per Press Association. NELSON, Jan. 17. The New Zealand intermediate and junior swimming championships were continued this morning when the eliminating heats in three events were decided. The weather continues to be ideal. Results are: 50 yards junior girls’ tree-style.— First heat: N. Kira (Bay of Plenty) 1, H. Wilkins (Nelson) 2, D. Dunsford (Auckland) 3; time', 31 4-5; won by a foot. Second heat: M. Stewart (Otago) 1, B. Westcrby (Southland) 2, 0. Hobson (Canterbury) 3; time, 31 4-5; won by a yard. 100 yards intermediate boys’ breast stroke. —First heat: I. Robertson (AVellington) 1, R. Knewstubb (Otago) 2, R. Dnthie (Southland) 3; time, 1 min. 19 2-ssec. ; won by a touch. Second heat: M. Shanahan (South Canterbury). Only one to qualiy; time, lmin. 18 2-ssec. 440 yards intermediate boys’ freestyle.—First heat: 11. Marshall (Canterbury) 1, C. Ferguson (Otago) 2, D. Dodson (Nelson) 3; time, smin. 48 2-ssec. ; won by 30 yards. Second heat: J. Cameron (Southland) 1, M. Roan (Taranaki) 2, O. Vaughan (Wellington) 3; time, smin. 57 3-ssec.; won by 12 yards.
