GARAGE DESTROYED
FIRE AT OKATO. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH. Jan. 17. Damage estimated at £2OOO was done at Okato this morning, when a garage owned by Mr R. F. Roebuck was destroyed. ’ Two cars, a lorry, a trailer, a truckload of cheese, a quantity of rennet, and several tons of fertiliser, were also lost. Chaos was added to the scene when two rounds of ammunition began exploding, making salvage work impossible. A nearby cottage was also endangered. but was saved by being kept under a continual stream of water. ■
