AFTER 21 YEARS.
SHRAPNEL PROVES FATAL. LONDON, Jan. 6. The verdict at ail inquest into the death of a war veteran on New Year’s Eve was that the man “died as a result of a shrapnel wound received in France in 1916.” The victim was Harry Pierce, aged 42. a carpenter, of Battersea. Doctors gave evidence that a piece of shrapnel tho size of a man’s little finger was found in Pierce’s lung. Death was due to blood poisoning.
