OPENING OF BASE
SINGAPORE CONCENTRATION. WARSHIPS TO BE PRESENT. FLEET’S SPRING CRUISE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received January 15, 10.5 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 14. • The British warships which will be present at the opening of the Singapore base include the cruisers Norfolk, flagship of the Ea6t India Squadron, and Emerald, of the East India Squadron; the Indian Navy sloops, Indus, Hindustan and Investigation; also the cruiser, Dorsetshire, the air-craft-carrier Eagle and the submarine depot ship Medwar and ten submarines of the China Squadron, with the destroyer Westcott; also the eighth destroyer flotilla. The first part of the spring cruise by the British Home Elect will include a visit to Lisbon of H.M.S. Nelson, H.M.S. Rodney and five other ships. The vessels are due to reach Lisbon on February 1 and then to sail for Gibraltar.
