MASTERTON HEAT-WAVE.

HOTTEST DAY OF SUMMER. OVER 93 DEGREES. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Jan. 14. Masterton is sweltering in the throes of a lieat-wave, the shade temperature this afternoon registering 93.2 degrees, the highest recorded for several years. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 90 degrees, which was two degrees less than that recorded on December 24, hitherto the hottest day this summer. For the past fifteen days the average maximum shade temperature has been nearly 81. Except for a litle rain on New Year’s Day and a thunderstorm last Monday .morning) there lias been very little rain for some time, as a result of which farm lands and pastures are becoming exceptionally dry. The rivers are still running well, and so far there is no serious danger of a water shortage for stock.
