PAHIATUA.

PAHIATUA, Jan. 14; A temperature of 82 degrees in the shade was registered in Pahiatua at 3 p.m. yesterday. The primary coat of tar sealing at both ends of Main Street has been completed by the Main Highways Board. It is anticipated that the whole roadway will be sealed by the end of March. Mr J. G. Swainson, who has for some time been in the top flight at the Pahiatua Tennis Club, has been obliged to give the game up for some months owing to an'injury to his leg, whic-li he sustained at tho recent tournament jn Dannevirke. The Pahiatua Ladies’ Social Guild held a meeting at the manse yesterlav. Rev. A. A. Armstrong opened with a prayer offering sympathy to the relatives of the victims of the Samoan Clipper. Arrangements were completed for the garden party to be held in Mrs Richardson’s garden.
