WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Business was again brisk on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday and a substantial turnover was recorded. There were no special features in the market and prices were generally steady to firm. There was a strong demand for Government loans, but no sales were recorded. Bank shares were quiet and easy, except New Zealand ordinaries, which sold to 44s lid. The D tnortgago issue sold 3d down, to 29s 9d. Commercial of Australia eased to 17s lid ex dividend, and moro were wanted at 17s 9d. Goklsbrough Mort were firmer at 35s 9d, sellers 365. In the insurance section, National were firm at 18s, sellers 18s sd. South British were quoted at 99s 6d, sellers £5 Is. Meat freezing shares were in good demand and Gear firmed to 18s lOd, sellers 19s 3d. Iluddart Parker advanced to 41s and the preference to 28s 4d, but sellers 'were silent, Cartlon Brewery were done at 665, and Dominion at 40s 3d. Staples advanced to 525, no sellers. Australian industrial and the chain store issues wero briskly traded at firm rates.
