ATTIRE AT COWES
UNWRITTEN LAW BROKEN. LONDON, Aug. 11. Unwittingly breaking an unwritten law that women must not appear on the lawns at Cowes wearing trousers or shorts, Lady Hinchingbroke scandalised members of the Royal Yacht Squadron by entering the precincts and taking tea attired in bright blue linen trousers.
A special meeting resulted in the lodgekeeper being instructed to refuse admission to other women wearing such dress.
